1. Which companies are eligible to become a B Corp?
Any for-profit company that has been in operation for at least one year can pursue B Corp certification. There is no minimum or maximum size. Certain companies, such as those less than one year old, those with affiliated entities, or large multinational companies, have additional considerations and requirements.
2. Can branches and subsidiaries, as well as franchises, become B Corps?
Subsidiaries, franchises, and companies with affiliated entities can pursue B Corp certification, with certain limitations. Subsidiaries of publicly traded companies must also meet additional transparency requirements.
3. Can startups less than 1 year old become B Corp?
B Corp certification is based in part on a company’s verification of an impact assessment completed in the previous fiscal year. This means that companies less than a year old are not yet eligible for B Corp certification, but can complete the impact assessment and become a Pending B Corp.
4. What are the advantages of becoming a B Corp?
B Corp certification confirms the performance of positive social and environmental impact. Since 2013, B Corp companies' sales have increased 3 times, and 75% of them have had a major increase in brand quality.

5. What are the time resources required in the certification process?
We estimate that, to complete the impact assessment through B Impact Assessment (BIA), businesses need 6 - 12 weeks if they are applying for certification for the first time and 2 - 4 weeks if they are in the process of recertification.
6. How long is B Corp certification valid?
B Corp certification is valid for 3 years. Businesses are required to recertify after this date by re-doing the B impact assessment, aiming to achieve the impact objectives.
